well i'm officially 26. i'm still holding that i'm mid-20's. when i'm 28, that's late 20's. i decided this a few days before my birthday and people of a similar age agreed.
the original plan was a huge blow-out celebration included 2 other people i know who also had a birthday around the same time. a few days before i just felt too tired for that and opted for a girlie weekend. i'm told this makes me old. i don't care. i had much more fun doing girlie things which included hair-styling, eating like you only can amongst the company of girls, shopping, going to a beach bar and heading to the van gogh exhibit on the sunday. i was happy with all of this, especially since i had some awesome girls come down from daegu for it all.
they have the van gogh exhibit set up chronologically which is interesting enough. it's fairly easy to trace his frame of mind during the 10 years he was an artist. it starts off pretty bleak and dark with mostly sketches of peasants. it moves on to some more colours a little later but he's lacking some skill. you head into the period where he has skill and is able to use colour properly until finally things go into the more depressing at the end. this is around when he cut that pesky ear off i'm guessing. anyways, seoul is pretty awesome for being able to see awesomeness like that.
this past weekend was nice as well. i went to dongdaemun stadium. nothing sporty goes on there anymore, the stadium has been turned into a market. it's actually pretty amusing and reminds me of flea markets at home. they had pretty much everything there from millie vanillie (sp) records to playstations, 70's style furniture and lots of other junk.
i also headed to punk for the first time in months and it was great. the best band was actually this out the blue country band that really had it together! there's such an uncool stigma attached to country that anyone who manages to make it cool (i.e. johnny cash) is extra cool and very rare.
after punk we went to a cat bar. it's exactly what it sounds like. a bar, where there are cats you can pet. they have dog bars as well, though we didn't go to one last night. mike and i had a long discussion over which makes the better life companion and i'm on the dog side while he's on the cat's . the cat's biggest selling point for him was their independence. i think this just means he's a lazy pet owner!
anyways next week is going to be busy. i have 4 parent observation classes and a big 3 hour long work meeting.
thanks for all the birthday wishes!
